There is so much to see in Cornwall, I have lived here 20 years (so not a proper local!), and there are still many corners I haven't explored. Our county is vast, varied and stunning, so it really helps to have local knowledge if you really want to see the treasures of coast and moor.

Whether your interest is seeing Cornwall as a film set, at Doc Martin and the Fisherman's Friends' Port Isaac, or touring the county's award winning breweries and vineyards, you can create a unique experience. For me, I am still yet to really explore the west of Cornwall. That region holds plenty of intrigue, with its ancient coves and fishing villages. The idea of being able to sit back, relax and enjoy the trip is really quite appealing being the driver in my family.

The real gem though of Cornwall Discovery Tours is Barry himself, such warm host, whose chatter is filled with anecdotes that make your trip so memorable. Certainly something to consider if you are new to the county or want to really know the locals' Cornwall, something I am still happily discovering.

On Friday 10th July Stein’s Fish & Chip shop in Padstow will be holding their Big Fish Supper in aid of the Fishermen’s Mission and have pledged to donate 3% of its total income on the day to the charity. This is an annual event at Stein’s and all monies donated will help the Mission provide emergency welfare support to fishermen and their families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. On average 25 UK vessels are lost each year around the coast often resulting in tragic consequences. The Mission has for over 130 year been a lifeline to the fishing communities around the UK. "Working as a fisherman is a dangerous and lonely job that very few people comprehend. Mark Preston at the Lighthouse Gallery

Painter Mark Preston has been drawn to the rugged, dramatic coastline between St Ives and Lands End since he was a fine art student in the 1990s. For the past year, Mark’s work has focused on capturing the beauty of the land and sea of West Cornwall throughout the four seasons. Lost Gardens of Heligan by Bike

I love the Lost Gardens of Heligan ! I need to plan another trip, it has been too long. I would normally travel by car but recently I realised there is another way. If you are a keen cyclist then there is a cycle route from St Austell or Mevagissey, and if you call in at the beautiful coastal village of Pentewan then you can hire a bike. What caught my eye recently is that they now offer electric bikes, and considering the hilly climb to these majestic gardens, that is a real temptation! For Cornwall bike hire Pentewan is pretty perfect, the friendly new owners have made a few changes, such as the addition of a great coffee machine. With ice-creams too, whether the weather is hot or cold the hire hut is welcoming and has a lovely picnic area by the river. There are a few different trails in Cornwall, the famous Camel Trail which although beautiful can be a bit busy.
