Stein opens Fishmongers in Padstow

Image
Rick Stein and Jill Stein have opened a new fishmonger’s in Padstow. Stein’s Fisheries, selling fresh fish, shellfish and pre-prepared seafood dishes, opened for business on Monday 26th March on the South Quay, next to Stein’s Fish and Chips.

After being closely involved with the fishing industry for well over 35 years and seeing the growing success of their fish counter at Stein’s Deli, it was a natural move for the business. On offer will be lobsters, crabs and an extensive range of fresh fish and shellfish as well as pre-prepared foods such as fishcakes, seafood salads, fish soups and a selection of salmon, prawn and crab sandwiches. The opening of Stein’s Fisheries will also create additional space in the deli to stock more local meats, salads and olives.

Rick commented ‘We are delighted to have a proper fish shop after all these years and think it will be popular, we know that fishmongers are closing down all over the country but we’re very optimistic about Stein’s Fisheries as …

Rick Stein’s Fish and Chips Opens in Falmouth Tonight!

Image
Opening tonight (Friday 19th March 2010) on Discovery Quay, Falmouth – opposite the National Maritime Museum, Rick Stein’s Fish and Chips opens its doors at 5pm.

Rick Stein and his ex-wife Jill have spent over thirty-five years building up their business in Padstow, which includes four restaurants, a deli, patisserie, gift shop, cookery school and 40 guest bedrooms, as well as a pub in the nearby village of St. Merryn, but Rick Stein’s Fish and Chips in Falmouth will be their first venture away from the Padstow area.

“It’s great to be finally opening in Falmouth. Outside Padstow it’s my favourite seaside town in Cornwall.

“Jill and I have looked around Cornwall for a long time for a place to expand beyond Padstow. Our inspiration for The Seafood Restaurant originally came from a restaurant in Falmouth that we frequented during the 1970’s, so it seemed only natural to finally open our own restaurant here. It’s a place we both know well.

“I've always been fascinated by Falmouth. Fr…

Image
On Friday 10th July Stein’s Fish & Chip shop in Padstow will be holding their Big Fish Supper in aid of the Fishermen’s Mission and have pledged to donate 3% of its total income on the day to the charity.

This is an annual event at Stein’s and all monies donated will help the Mission provide emergency welfare support to fishermen and their families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. On average 25 UK vessels are lost each year around the coast often resulting in tragic consequences. The Mission has for over 130 year been a lifeline to the fishing communities around the UK.

"Working as a fisherman is a dangerous and lonely job that very few people comprehend. The Fishermen's Mission makes sure it knows the hardship fishermen and their families face and therefore exactly how to help them," - Rick Stein, Mission Vice-Patron and restaurateur.
