December is Full of Possibilities

Jubilee Pool

For now, as we find ourself in December, Cornwall is in tier 1. This does mean we have more freedom as we come out of our second lockdown in England, with businesses opening up and restaurants able to serve. For the more cautious thankfully our spacious county provides plenty of outdoor fun for all the family.

As I type the sun has come out, it is so much easier to handle the restrictions when the weather is fair! Winter in Cornwall though I have always thought is actually a real treat. Many attractions are opening up and although most require booking, taking a little more fore-thought than before, brilliant days out are still possible.

Here are a few of attractions I'd like to highlight for December, including the re-opening of the Jubilee Pool in Penzance. Maybe not your first thought for winter, but Britain's first geothermal pool is an Art Deco gem. Tickets are expected to sell out fast, so to book yours head here.

Ice Skating at the Eden Project

An annual favourite, Eden are opening up their ice rink from tomorrow, Thursday the 4th December. You need to book online but it's lovely seeing this magical space able to open again.

Wildlife lanterns at Heligan

Over at Heligan they are decorating their gorgeous gardens with the help of The Lantern Company. Wild-life themed these lights are a wonderful experience, taking about an hour to walk round, you can even toast marshmallows or roast chestnuts! The Heligan Night Garden is a winter treat.

Cornish Seal Sanctuary open in December 2020

Just one more suggestion from me today, visit some animals! From Paradise Park in Hayle, filled with tropical birds and more, to Newquay Zoo and The Cornish Seal Sanctuary, these wildlife havens could do with our support and no matter the weather this is a wonderful way to bring colour and joy to a slightly dreary December day.

Lions at Newquay Zoo

Right now it is always best to check the websites, book online and stay safe but it is really exciting to see Cornwall open again!
