7 of Our Favourite Cafes in Cornwall
This is tricky, how do you compile a cafe list in the foodie haven that is Cornwall! There are so many I haven't tried yet, and many I can't wait to sample. So this is far from an exhaustive list, but here are some suggestions for your next caffeine fix...
The Harbour Light in Boscastle
A relatively new venture, opened this year, but Proper Vintage who run this walkers refresh are old hats at bringing the delicious. Doug and Hannah have been converting vintage vehicles to sell their tasty cakes and ice cream from for a good few years. Check out the beautifully restored Beryl ice cream van at Bosiney Cove. 2025 found them opening a fully-fledged cafe in the beautiful village of Boscastle. Definitely worth a visit.
The Peacock Cafe at Pencarrow House and Gardens
Such a perfect setting, the gorgeous historic home of the Molesworth St-Aubyns is just a fab day out, with guided house tour and acres of ancient woodland for dogs to roam and tidy Italian gardens to explore. The cafe, named after the Peacock's that rule the roost, is a triumph. Run by the popular 'Miss V' from Bodmin, her cakes are more than Instagram-worthy, they are delicious.
Such a surprising find in the middle of Bodmin moor, right on the edge of Siblyback lake is Olive & Co. The food is delicious, the breakfast was my most recent experience and it was pretty perfect I would have to say. Plenty of Vegan options, and just some really great food. (These days I have to omit wheat, dairy and soya so I am always keen to find places that have options, or are at least flexible). It's the kind of food that feels like it's doing you good, but still feeling like a naughty treat!
Another off the beaten track but popular cafe is the Woods Cafe in Cardinham woods. The quaint cottage is the perfect reward after a lovely walk and they always have something on the menu that tempts me. Handsome cakes, intriguing drinks and some great lunch choices catering for all tastes. There is plenty of seating outside and a tables few tucked inside which come the winter months are great to hunker down by the fire.
If cakes are what you crave then a stop off at Pentewan's jewel should be on your list. Very hard to pick, will it be a piece of fresh strawberry gateau or an apricot and chocolate slice? How to choose!
Living in Lostwithiel I have seen this little garden centre blossom over the years. I remember when the cafe was just a coffee machine! Now there is an orangery with afternoon teas, a woodland tipi as well as a dappled shade terrace with robins that gather cake crumbs. The cakes are beautiful and the food tasty and local. It's treat prices but a place we love to bring guests.
Well the name has me for starters! Near Delabole you can find a spacious barn serving fresh local food with far reaching views of the coast. Ideal on a sunny day as there is plenty of space outside for kids to run off steam. I have been there on a colder winter's day but that was lovely too, with the fire roaring. Their breakfasts are popular, oak smoked mackerel for one sounds very tasty.
