Eating in is the New Going Out

Da Bara bakery delivery service

Well, it's November, and for England that means a new month long lockdown. 2020 has been an eventful (is that even the word?) year! As we will be restricted to what we can do for the next month I thought today we'd take a look at what you can get delivered to our home, so you can enjoy a taste of Cornwall even if you can't actually go out.

There are plenty of the usual suspects of course, delicious Indian restaurants and yummy Chinese, and good old fish and chips. In my local town of Lostwithiel the pubs are getting involved, delivering to those in need, and fine dining restaurant Asquiths has a lovely menu to choose from. Jordan Cook, the chef from Trewithen, has been providing delicious meals in his new venture, Restormel Kitchen - this months menu looks particularly mouth-watering!

Rick Stein home delivery boxes

Famous names like Rick Stein have found ways to bring their culinary treats to those in lockdown. Perfect to help make an occasion special, everything is prepared ready for you to cook and it stays fresh thanks to sustainable wool packaging. See what is available at their website.

Woody's Pizza Takeaway for Lockdown

In Wadebridge, there are almost too many to list! Our clients Woody's Pizza and Laid Back Coffee based at Saltbox in town never disappoint. Craftworks too over fab street food. Right by the entrance to the Camel Trail so you could combine your visit for takeaway with your daily exercise.

Have you tried Da Bara Bakery? They are now sending their famous cinnamon buns by post, all across the UK. A box of 5 buns costs £15 including delivery and they look amazing. (Pictured first).

Cornish hampers for Lockdown

If you are wanting a more quintessential taste of Cornwall then head to The Cornish Food Box Company where they pretty much stock it all. It's like an online supermarket of all things Cornwall, they source from over 250 local producers and farmers. Sometimes you just really need a cream tea and only Cornish clotted cream will do #jamfirst.

I have been amazed at the resilience and creativity of this very valid industry. Amidst some really tricky times it is lovely seeing local makers finding ways to connect with their customers. Having delicious food delivered or grabbing a takeaway lifts the monotony of being indoors, especially with winter coming. Plus supporting our local growers and restauranteurs means helpfully when life does get back to normal they'll still be here for us to go and visit.
