The 19th anual Celtic Beer festival on the 25th November 2017

Beer is big business, the popularity of local varieties and interesting brews has meant massive increase of choice for the consumer. This November the popular St Austell Brewery hosts their Celtic Beer Festival deep in its ancient cellars. With almost 200 ales, stouts and lagers to try and many award winning beers, its a key event for those who love the craft.

Expect the local favourites as well as some limited edition beers

Best of all 100% of the profits go to the St Austell Brewery Charitable Fund, helping causes across the South West (raising £186,000.00 to date). You'll find the familiar Tribute, Proper Job and Korev as well as some new and limited addition beers to tempt.

Entry is £10 which gets you your commemorative glass and some starter tokens and a brochure. The 19th festival will run on the 25th of November with 4 bars and music from great bands both day and night.

I love the Lost Gardens of Heligan ! I need to plan another trip, it has been too long. I would normally travel by car but recently I realised there is another way. If you are a keen cyclist then there is a cycle route from St Austell or Mevagissey, and if you call in at the beautiful coastal village of Pentewan then you can hire a bike. What caught my eye recently is that they now offer electric bikes, and considering the hilly climb to these majestic gardens, that is a real temptation! For Cornwall bike hire Pentewan is pretty perfect, the friendly new owners have made a few changes, such as the addition of a great coffee machine. With ice-creams too, whether the weather is hot or cold the hire hut is welcoming and has a lovely picnic area by the river. There are a few different trails in Cornwall, the famous Camel Trail which although beautiful can be a bit busy. Further south you can travel around the old tram ways and see a more industrial but equally interesting

Take Me To The Roseland

The Beach below the Hidden Hut, Porthcurnick on the Roseland © Emma Julian If there is one part of Cornwall that feels like an escape, to me it's the Roseland. Even the name given to this peninsular feels romantic! About 40 minutes from me but a world away, life stands still and I feel I'm immersed in the beauty of Cornwall.  There is still plenty of nooks I am yet to explore, and I do tend to stick to my favourite haunts, but it truly feels like the sun always shines and cares are cast away. Of course the sun is no guarantee, especially as we breeze in to October, but I spent an idyllic afternoon walking round some coastal path with my friend recently. The sun on our face, the waves lapping and the bunnies leaping. Holidaying in Cornwall the Retro Way

Summer is in full swing and the weather is cooperating, hooray! Cornwall really does look its finest when the sun smiles down on us.  There are of course some really great places to stay when coming to Cornwall from quaint cottages and hotels to rustic fields where you can pitch your tent, but I think with so much on offer it can be nice to have the freedom to roam around.  I thought I would highlight today the wonderful 'Pip', a vintage T2 VW van, lovingly restored and available for holiday hiring. Wild and Free Cornish Campers really know how to make a memorable holiday, I mean there is just something about sea, sun, waves and camper vans! This year saw the return of the much loved Run to the Sun Festival in Newquay which featured a plethora of camper vans all in one place. The love for these classics is still very much alive.
