Cornwall is becoming well known as a foodie destination, we have fish as fresh as you can get it and great quality meat, veg and scrumptious cakes. To scoop up the best and really get to know the locals, you can't go wrong with a farmers market. Here are a few you can peruse this month:

Bodmin, in the heart of Cornwall have a popular market every 3rd Saturday at Bodmin Nursery (who also have a lovely tea room!)

Bude farmers market


Further north at in the dramatic seaside town of Bude you can get your fresh veg every Friday, 10-3pm out on the warfside.

Callington, on the edge of Cornwall has a bustling market every Thursday at their Scout Hut selling anything from apple juice to cakes and meat to fresh cut flowers.

Towards the Lizard peninsular, at Constantine every second Saturday of every month you'll find the church hall bustling. This month that's the 12th of August, 9.30-12pm.

Devoran, between Truro and Falmouth, has its own farmer's market. This little village is a lovely location anyway, but to pick up the local fresh produce head down on the second Saturday of each month. They have the ever popular Baker Tom bread as well as olives, preserves, fresh eggs and local honey.

The ancient stannary town of Lostwithiel has their market on the 4th Saturday of each month from 10am to 1pm, a diverse offering, you'll definitely leave with more than you went in for!

In Penzance you are spoilt for choice for markets! Every Thursday at St John's Hall they have a county market, even Friday morning head to to exchange gallery where you can enjoy rare breeds meat as well as a good vegetarian selection.

The locals of St Ives meet at The Guildhall every Thursday morning for their fresh food.

In Truro the farmers market is quite a draw, held on the Piazza at Lemon Quay every Saturday. The choice is varied -traditional Cornish fare as well as curies, mussels, sushi, game, fresh fish and some seriously good cakes!

Pretty much wherever you head in Cornwall you can catch a market. Its great to shop local, not only for the community but for the customer - fresh food straight from the makers, can't get better than that!
