It's a Musical June

Alverton Summer Music

It's not long now until I take my mum to see Diana Ross at The Eden Project! She is very excited, me too! Quite a legend. I thought it might be good to share some of the other musical events up and coming this month and beyond.

It really feels that after a few years away from living life fully we are finally able to. This summer promises to be a bumper one for Cornwall with so many festivals coming back to us, and what a eclectic mix...

Truro's band stand hosts music this June

Sundays from May to September are seeing Truro's Victoria Gardens' band stand put to good use. Local brass bands and orchestras will be delighting folk from 2.30 to 4pm.

Alverton Hotel summer sessions

Also in Truro, at The Alverton's beautiful gardens, they are welcoming back the Summer Garden Sessions. Think a sun-drenched terrace, stunning tunes and a cocktail or two. This month sees Hannigan, Rue and Ash Harding take to the stage.

June's line up for the Eden Sessions

Speaking of Eden's Sessions, their line up this year includes other big names such as Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Nine Inch Nails and the one and only Brian Adams.

Falmouth's Sea Shanty Festival

For something a little more Cornish, Falmouth will be full of the sound of song for its traditional Sea Shanty Festival. I used to like to dip in to this when I was a student. Lovely listening by the harbour in the evening sun. This year running from the 17th to the 19th of June.

Polperro Music and Art Festival

The 18th to the 26th of June is Polperro's Music and Arts Festival, the streets of this charming town will all be a buzz with carnival processions, local crafts and music.

Bugle hosts the West of Englands' brass band festival

Central Cornwall plays host to the West of England Bandsmen's Festival this year, in the village of Bugle, an event that has been taking place since 1912. If its anything like Lostwithiel's brass band performance the other week (loved the 1980s mash-up) it will be great!

Carmen opera in Cornwall

Finally, some opera. Touring the county you can find Carmen performed by the Regents Opera, in three locations. Launceston Town Hall, Trevince Estate and St Endellion Church. Carmen is the only opera I have seen, in Prague of all places, and the music was wonderful.

There we go! A musical start to the summer.
