Soul II Soul and Zion Train at Electric Beach


Everyone at Electric Beach HQ are super excited to announce the return of Electric Beach Festival at Watergate Bay this summer on 31st August. Last year’s sell out festival will again be gracing the sands of the North Cornish coast at Watergate Bay near Newquay. They have an amazing line up of world class acts and local artists playing the one day music event.

Iconic R’n’B and dance act SOUL II SOUL are this year’s headliner, bringing their effortlessly fresh beats to the beach. Soul II Soul are a household name in the UK scene, with their hits “Keep On Moving” and “Back to Life” toping the UK and US charts. “Back To Life” has sold over 1 million copies worldwide and featured in the Opening Ceremony for the London 2012 Olympics. One of the founding members Jazzie B, has had international success winning 2 Grammy’s and an Ivor Novello award. He has not only been a part of chart topping Soul II Soul, but has remixed and produced songs for James Brown, Nas and Destiny’s Child to name a few.


Also confirmed are the UK Dub reggae pioneers ZION TRAIN. Purveyors of the finest Roots Reggae music, the group will be adding the vibrancy of a full acoustic band, dub mixing and quality vocalists. The release of the band’s album “Live as One” was awarded a coveted Jamaican Reggae Grammy for “Best Dub Album” and having produced and performed with some of the most prolific Dub, dance and reggae artists, their appearance at Electric Beach is sure to be an amazing eclectic set.

Ben Hall event director, “we are so pleased to have Electric Beach back this year, especially being able to work with Watergate Bay again. We are working on making this event even better than last year with some great new additions”.

The day’s musical entertainment will start at 1pm and continues until the sun goes down at 10pm. The summery atmosphere will be reinforced with an array of live acts and DJs before the evenings headline acts.

Special beach activities and dance offs are just some of the other elements to Electric Beach, with more surprises to be confirmed. A fully licensed bar will be open from 1pm and The Beach Hut will be providing delicious festival food throughout the day.


The official Electric Beach After Party was a huge success last year with Newquay’s premier nightspot The Chy and Koola Bar filling to capacity with the events party goers.

Soul II Soul’s internationally renowned DJ Jazzie B will be playing a DJ set again hosted at The Chy with DJ sets and live performances from many of the other acts on the line up. Open from 11pm-4am the after party continues the party from the beach to the club.
